Nymphenburg Palace Munich

Nymphenburg Palace Munich

In the middle of the 18th century, under Elector Max III Joseph, the north wing of Nymphenburg Palace was planned as a two-storey building. On the one hand, it was to house a new theatre and comedy hall, the later Hubertussaal.

On the other hand, two large orangery halls were planned for the ground floor, which were to provide wintering space for at least 250 citrus plants. The spatial proximity between the orangery and the banqueting rooms was deliberately chosen because the fragrant, flowering citrus plants were also a popular decoration for dining rooms and tables at the time.

Galerie Mensing uses the excellent facilities of the Orangery Hall in Nymphenburg Palace for external events in Munich.
